5C

Last week we visited the Whitworth Art Gallery with Mr Bradley and Mrs Maroulis. We all got the number 50 bus and it seemed that some of us had never been on a bus before! When we got there we looked at some art from the Tudor era and chose different parts to sketch in our books. We then thought of words to write in our pictures. We thought about what the people in the pictures might be doing and started to think of little stories to go alongside the pictures. Miss Kendal was really proud of every member of 5c as they were excellent representatives for the school.

This week we have began to look at our part in the year 5 play. Everybody has been enthusiastic and excited when looking at the script and the class all love the D.I.V.O.R.C.E song…especially Hassan and Yaameen’s dancing! The heat is on to see which year 5 class will give the best performance of their part in the play. We are all looking forward to the activities that are planned for the Tudor topic and are very grateful to the parents who have volunteered their time to help make costumes.

In ICT this week we have been researching information on the planets in our Solar System and creating a powerpoint presentation of our findings. This links in with our science topic on space. We looked at photos of Miss Smith skydiving this week as it shows the shape of Earth really clearly. Did you know that the Earth is a sphere?

Eid is being celebrated in the forthcoming week and we hope that everybody who is celebrating has a lovely time. Until next week stay safe and happy and enjoy learning!

A new class, a new teacher, a new year! 5c have started the new year well, and are getting to know their new classmates and teacher. We have lots of exciting things to look forward to this term with lots of trips planned (see our trips page) and we will be putting together a play on Henry VIII with 5K and 5S.

This week we have been learning about our Solar System in science, finding out about Henry VIII in Topic and we have looked at co-ordinates in maths. In literacy, we have used drama to look at the characters in the story Grandpa Chatterji and there will be some photos to look at soon.

5c are going to have a fantastic year this year and I know they are going to work really hard. We will also have some fun along the way!
